President of The Art Institutes
Charles Restivo was appointed as president of The Art Institutes in January 2014. Prior to that he served as interim president of The Art Institutes since June 2013. Mr. Restivo’s previous role with the company was as Group Vice President for Education Management (EDMC), the parent company of The Art Institutes from 2005 to 2013, with responsibility for all Art Institutes located in the Central region of the country. In 2003, Mr. Restivo was appointed Regional Vice President providing operational oversight for EDMC colleges and universities in the Central U.S. including multiple locations of The Art Institutes, Argosy University, and Brown Mackie College. Mr. Restivo joined EDMC as President of The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago in 2001.
Prior to joining EDMC, Mr. Restivo served as Vice President and Board member for Wade College in Dallas from 1984 to 2001; President of DeVry Institute of Technology in Irving, Texas from 1977 – 1983; and as Academic Dean, Department Chairperson, and Instructor at DeVry Technical Institute in Woodbridge, N.J. from 1972 – 1976. Mr. Restivo is a graduate of Rutgers University with an MBA and a BS in Electrical Engineering. He also has an MS in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology.
