John M. Danielson

John M. Danielson is Chairman of the Board of Directors for Education Management Corporation. He is an accomplished, internationally-respected executive in the public and private education sector. Early in his 25-year career, Mr. Danielson came to believe that the private sector, along with the public sector, has an important role to play in the creation of improved education systems. Mr. Danielson was a co-founder of the Chartwell Education Group LLC (2005-2009), an international education-consulting firm. Since June 2009, Mr. Danielson served as Chairman and Managing Director of Chartwell Hamilton Group LLC, the restructured international consulting platform of Chartwell Education. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Danielson was Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Education, where he earned a reputation for his ability to adapt innovative business strategies and tactics to resolve the issues faced by the public education sector. From 2010 to 2013, at the appointment of current United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Mr. Danielson served as a peer reviewer in all four of the landmark Race to the Top state and district competitions. Mr. Danielson serves as a board member of Declara (Palo Alto), Magnus Gyan (New York), Vatterott Educational Centers (St. Louis), The University of the Potomac (Washington), and as a Senior Advisor to American Prison Data Systems (New York), and Speakaboos (New York).

Kermit J. Cook

Kermit J. Cook is a Director at KKR Capstone, where he works to identify and deliver sustainable operational performance with KKR portfolio companies. He has been with KKR Capstone since 2007. In 2011, Mr. Cook successfully opened KKR Capstone’s office in Sydney, Australia. His portfolio in Australia included GenesisCare, the country’s largest private radiotherapy and cardiology network, and Bis Industries, a leading resource logistics specialist. While at KKR Capstone, he has also worked with Sundrop Farms, Santanol Pty Ltd, Unisteel Technology Limited, and US Foodservice. Prior to KKR Capstone, Mr. Cook worked for Nike, Inc. in 2006 and McKinsey & Company from 2001 until 2003. In addition to his business experience, Mr. Cook brings an educator’s perspective to the Board having spent time with Teach for America in the St. Louis, Missouri Public Schools where he taught physics and coached at the Gateway Institute of Technology from 2003 to 2005. Students and faculty elected him Teacher of the Year in 2005.

Mark A. McEachen

Mark McEachen serves as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Education Management Corporation. McEachen joined the organization in 2015 as Chairman of the Board of Directors and also served as a member of the company's Office of the Chairman. He most recently served as President and CEO of Dolan Company, a provider of business information and professional services.

He is an experienced business leader with a 30-year record of success in management in both private and public companies in a variety of areas, including information technology, legal, human resources procurement, manufacturing, engineering, sales and all financial disciplines. He is a member of BJ Restaurants Board of Directors (BJRI) and previously was on the Board of DexMedia. Mr. McEachen served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Freedom Communications, Inc., a broadcast television and newspaper/magazine media company, from April 2010 to July 2012 and Executive Vice President from July 2012 to June 2013. He joined Freedom Communications in 2009 in the role of Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Mr. McEachen served as Chief Financial Officer at Fabrik, Inc., BridgeCo Inc., where he also served as Interim Chief Executive Officer, Excite@Home, and Transamerica Financial. Mr. McEachen brings extensive restructuring, merger-and-acquisition and operational experience and insight to the Board.

Jerome G. Kamer

Jerome G. Kamer is a seasoned executive with significant experience in the media, entertainment, and technology industries. His background includes senior management positions in motion pictures, television, music publishing, live theater, theme parks, licensing and merchandising, the recording industry, publishing, and movie theaters. His experience in corporate finance encompasses mergers and acquisitions, structuring and placing tax advantaged instruments, and numerous other banking and equity financing arrangements. He has developed and grown businesses in over 20 countries, and has led or been involved with several successful start-ups, partnerships, and other business combinations. In 2010, Mr. Kamer co-founded the Entertainment Investment Group (EIG), a Los Angeles-based investment bank specializing in media and entertainment, and currently serves as one of its Managing Partners. Since late 2014, Mr. Kamer also has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Oladas Inc. Prior to forming EIG, Mr. Kamer helped form Key Brand Entertainment. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Kamer was Managing Director of Crossroads Media, a private equity investment company specializing in media and entertainment. Prior to joining Crossroads Media and Key Brand, Mr. Kamer was Executive Vice President of Warren N. Lieberfarb & Associates, a consulting and investment firm. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Kamer was Senior Vice President, Planning and Board of Directors, for Fox Family Worldwide. Mr. Kamer began his career in media and entertainment as Director, Business Development for Viacom Entertainment Group.
