IT - Business Analyst II (Student Accounts and/or Financial Aid Focus)

Describes, designs, tests, and implements (if applicable) enterprise software application enhancements that meet user needs and requirements. Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Key Job Elements:

1. Interact with user departments to understand business environment

2. Assist users in translating concepts to written requirements.

3. Define application refinements at a high enterprise level.

4. Detail specific user-required modifications, and modify software if applicable.

5. Evaluate test results with change requestor(s).

6. Schedule enhancements for production environment.

7. Obtain user sign-off at completion of project.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Reports To: Assistant Vice President, Information Technology, Student Support Technology

Supervises: None

Interacts With: All levels of IT and user departments.

Job Requirements:

1. Knowledge:

a) Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience required.

b) 3 to 5 years of solid experience in a similar role analyzing business software needs.

c) Experience in a wide area of IT platforms and protocols as well as software training and testing.

d) Technical or subject matter expert experience with Campus Management’s CampusVue or Jenzabar’s CARS student information system platforms.

e) Experience with student accounting and financial aid processes, procedures, and regulations as they pertain to the education industry.

2. Skills:

a) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

b) Strong interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, and vendor populations as well as extensive experience with direct client contact and presentations.

c) Superior organizational and problem resolution skills.

d) Strong personal computer skills with PCs running Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office 2007 suite of applications.

e) Understanding of relational database concepts, SQL, and designing/creating financial reports.

3. Abilities:

a) Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions, and listen to customers (e.g. clients, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.

b) Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.

c) Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities.

d) Ability to work without close supervision and to set one’s own priorities.
