Human Resources - Generalist
Summary: Responsible for the transactional functions of the Human Resources Department and serves as an interface between Human Resources, other departments and Central Services. Responsible for the day to day functions of Human Resources and special projects as assigned.

Key Job Elements:
Execute the recruitment process of candidates to fill vacancies. This includes posting requisitions, the initial screening of resumes and applications of various formats, prescreening potential candidates and scheduling interviews and interviewing candidates.
Facilitate the talent management initiatives of corporate headquarters and school to include the areas of:
a. On-Boarding
b. Orientation
c. Training
d. Performance review planning and execution
e. Succession and leadership planning
Execute the daily operations of HR, which may include answering employee questions, exit interviews, termination processing, benefits, unemployment claims, offer letters, worker’s compensation claims and counseling management.
May manage the employee communications portal.
Oversee and review the processing of payroll and other essential functions of the Human Resources department and ensure compliance with internal and external controls. This includes monitoring existing and new hire employee’s compensation for compliance with corporate policies.
Serve as a resource and main point of contact for HR policy/procedure clarification and as an advisor for other departments while handling employee relations issues and when appropriate, escalating issues to the HR Director as required.
Manage special projects and/or events such as training programs, annual benefits enrollment, employee recognition, etc. as needed.
Other duties as required.

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Knowledge:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Industrial Relations.
2. Three to five years experience in Human Resources or related field preferably in a post secondary education environment or other field with large employee base and strong external customer service requirements (e.g. health care, retail, financial or mortgage services, etc.)
3. Previous payroll/detail oriented administrative experience helpful.
Skills:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2. Strong interpersonal skills with both faculty and staff population.
3. Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
4. Strong computer literacy skills with the MS Office suite as well as HRIS applications.
Abilities:
1) Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
2) Ability to listen to customers (e.g. students, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
3) Ability to work without close supervision and to set ones own priorities and work schedule.
4) Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
